Okay then...

You can call me Sam Nara (not really my name).

And my avatar is Dobby; just read below.

Clark,

Do you still have the image you were using as an avatar when you posted this? I don't remember it. I am a Carmelite Tertiary and I would love to see it.

Thanks.

Yeah I have it. I'll restore it to my avatar for you for a bit : ).

My username has two meaning, one, my real name is Ivan and two, HM Ivan IV is my all time favorite monarch and I am also Russian (if you couldn't already tell). My current avatar is Edward Teach otherwise known as Blackbeard and it's my avatar because I am a sailor and he was the saltiest of us all.

Greetings,
My name, Sharifah, means "noble woman" and, quite simply, my avatar is a beautiful pink flower because I love the color pink and the flower is pretty.

My latest avatar is a photograph of the equestrian statue of Emperor Menelik II which stands before the Cathedral of St. George in central Addis Ababa.  The statue commemorates the Emperor's victory over Italy at the Battle of Adwa on March 1, 1896.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Adwa

The statue was commissioned by Menelik's daughter Empress Zewditu, but she did not live to innaugurate it.  Instead, the statue was unveiled by her successor, Emperor Haile Selassie on November 1, 1930 on the eve of his coronation.  In 1936, under orders from Mussolini, the Fascist occupiers removed the statue from it's plinth in the dead of night along with the Imperial crown surmounting the dome of the Ba'eta Le Mariam Monastery where Menelik is buried, the Trinity Star monument that marked Haile Selassie's 1930 coronation, and the Lion of Judah monument in front of the Addis Ababa train station to avenge their humiliation.  The people of Addis Ababa gathered at the empty plinth of the Menelik statue to weep the next morning.

Emperor Haile Selassie restored Menelik II's statue to it's pedestal and the Imperial Crown to the dome of the monastery upon his restoration.  The Trinity Star monument was never found and so was never restored.  The Lion of Judah statue which had been set up in Rome next to the Vittorio Emanuelle Monument was returned to Addis Ababa in the 1960's.

The Menelik statue is one of Addis Ababa's enduring symbols.  Every year, on the anniversary of the Battle of Adwa, wreaths are laid at this statue by government officials.  Anti-monarchist and anti-Menelik protestors in 1991 had held protests demanding that the new EPRDF government remove the statue.  Thankfully the demands were ignored.

My full name is in my profile. I used "The Brown-Eyed Poet" as my username because I have brown eyes, and I've always loved poetry, and wrote poems since childhood.

My current avatar is that of Arya Stark of Winterfell. She is the character in the series, "Game of Thrones" that closely resembles who I am: fierce, loyal, determined, loving, loves swords, resourceful, imaginative. And also, she's quite the monarchist.

She is my favourite character along with Jon Snow, and Tyrion Lannister.

I'm a little obsessed with Game of Thrones right now.  I have watched all the available episodes of the series and am now reading the books.  The books are amazing!

My username is the French form of 'knight' or, more precisely for my purposes 'Cavalier'. The idea of the cavalier both as a soldier for the Kings Charles, and as the aristocratic 'Cavaliers' which settled and influenced Virginia and Maryland as put forwards in Albion's Seed by David H. Fischer enchants me; so I use it. My avatar was formerly the last Grand Master of the Knights Templar; however it is now the great King Charles I.

Yes, they are amazing! So glad someone on here is also following the books and the series. I'm currently halfway through the third book, A Storm of Swords. Can't wait for the third season this March!
