Don't expect the UN to do anything about human rights in Iran or anywhere...

This would never have happened under the Shah:

As we see in Iran, Islamists believe that poverty and oppression are acceptable if it means religious "purity":

And, of course, Tehran's senior leadership financed and facilitated, along with Hezbollah, the training of the 9/11 hijackers that killed nearly three thousand people in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. According to a December 2011 decision by Judge George B. Daniels "Iran and Hezbollah materially and directly supported Al Qaeda in the September 11, 2001 attacks."

But 9/11 was not Iran's first terror attack against the United States. The Iranian government also financed the attack on the Pan Am flight that blew up over Scotland in December 1988, and was also responsible for the 1996 terror attacks against Americans at Khobar Towers in Saudi Arabia, the 1998 bombings of the American embassies in Kenya and Tanzania and the 1983 bombings of our Marine barracks and embassy in Lebanon.

Recognizing that the Iranian regime is a threat to peace in the world, I think that the other great threat to world peace in that region has been gravely neglected for many years.  This threat is in my opinion far greater than any threat posed by Iran and it's minion allies in Lebanon and elsewhere.  It is at the root of virtually every attack inspired by it's dark Wahabist theology.  Every day I am more an more convinced that the true threat to world peace is the Wahabism agressively promoted around the world by the House of Saud.  This article is a year old now, but it's food for thought. (Not a huge fan of the Independent, but they did get this right).

To be fair, it would be tempting to put Saudi Arabia on the list of historical land-grabbing enterprises like some other, rather larger states!
