I was baptized into an High Anglican church in my early 20s. I later converted to Melkite Catholicism. So it was mostly my religious leanings that brought me to becoming a monarchist since monarchism is part of the political theological doctrines in both churches.

What brought you to becoming a monarchist?

I used to be a sort of wannabe Bonaparte/Ceasar so I'm not sure that counts but when I realised how ill-suited I was to absolute power, I realised that British history had already provided me with a better system, allegiance to a crown anointed with oil with vows before God.

Caesar I would credit with saving the Roman Empire through the disbandonment of the Republic. He definitely ushered in the Roman monarchy but whether or not he was the first monarch I guess that's disputable.

Napoleon Bonaparte I have written about on my blog. I do not think that he is much of a monarchist but rather used the images of monarchy to his advantage to seize power. He is ultimately a son of the French Revolution and Bonapartism has heavy strands of Republicanism in it. I believe Napoleon was more of a populist democrat than a monarch.
