This is good news and I wish the Royal couple well. I await my new Prince or Princess and will welcome them to my home shores when they visit next.

I too was very pleased to hear the news of the future fifth in line, and I hope the pregnancy soon eases for the Duchess and all goes smoothly thereafter. In the meantime, the third in line has started school. His mother was unable to be present due to her delicate condition, but also not present were the massed bank of TV cameras and horde of photographers one would expect. Not because they didn't want to be, but because the Duke and Duchess permitted only one TV camera and one photographer who would then pool coverage. Very eminently sensible of them, Prince George has not been unknown to be fretful in public and had enough on his plate with the school adventure without a huge media presence adding to the strain.

The report I first linked was from the Guardian, and very good I thought it. The Guardian in fact, unlike the Independent, is rarely snide when reporting royal news. However, for those whose ideological convictions prohibit them from clicking any Guardian link, here is one to the also very good Mail report.

Good to her the Third in line's journey through and into his school life got off to a good start, I kind of know how he might have felt as my mother was pregnant with my youngest brother at a similar time in my life; and nice to hear they are making the start of school life a little less stressful this time around it is obvious that his parents don't want that added attention that his father received replicated.

Today is Prince Louis' second birthday. As has become customary the Duchess of Cambridge took pictures of him which have been released to mark the day. The link is to the Mail, but actually just about every paper has a picture of him on its front page, with more inside, plus an explanation about the hands! Today is also St George's Day, and by tradition though not documented history Shakespeare's birthday (456 today, were he around still). Normally the English flag would be flying on churches and public buildings and there would also be Shakespeare festivities, but of course this year there will be none of that. Let us hope that extra celebrations will be possible on April 23rd 2021.

Adorable: With his little hands smudged with paint and a broad grin on his face, Prince Louis is clearly pleased with his artistic creation

Princess Charlotte's turn for the front pages today, as she turns five. Four pictures were released to mark the occasion, taken as usual by the Duchess of Cambridge, a keen and clearly accomplished amateur photographer.

Happy birthday HRH Princess Charlotte, apologies for the delay. She has more than an echo of The Princess Royal in her countenance at this young age. That in and of itself bodes well in my book.
