Basic gist is that Neoreaction has adpted the modern idea of sovereignty based on positive law – although they do advocate for absolute monarchy.   Against this is the medieval notion that the monarchy is sacred and works together with the Church to achieve similar ends.   The cooperation between King Louis IX and Pope Clement IV is held up as an example.  I would proffer another counter example for both – Julius Evola's idea (albeit not the first person to articulate it) of the sacred monarch who is not subordinate to the Church, but the ultimate leader of both church and state.  The Pope would be subordinate to the sacred emperor.
