What President Trump has done here is abdicate American influence in the region.  His actions have shown all the players that America is not a reliable ally.  The big victors here are Edrogan, Assad, ISIS and above all Putin.  Many imprisoned ISIS members are believed to have escaped as their Kurdish guards have rushed off to fight for their lives. Russia emerges as the great power keeping the Kurds, Turkey, and Syria from tearing each other apart, and continues to project itself as the protector of minorities in the Levant.  Assad gets back control of a chunk of territory, shores up and stabalizes his once tottering regime, and the allegiance of a section of Kurds. Edrogan gets to flex his muscles, and boast about a return to Ottoman greatness. Another victor is Iran, whose long time support of Assad will have put in an advantaged position.

Trump's ill considered foriegn policy disaster has had a huge impact.  Some that he clearly didn't consider at all.  Conspicuously, Edrogan is now treating him quite dismissively.

Assad's army has entered Kobani, a Kurdish city in northern Syria close to the border with Turkey.

Claiming, that the American withdrawal from Syria makes USA an unreliable ally is nonsense. Turkey is after all a NATO member, and American support for the PYD damaged relations between USA and Turkey. Trump has definitely not abdicated American influence in the Middle East. Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt will remains allies of USA, and despite USA introducing sanctions against Turkey, relations between Turkey and USA will likely improve in the future, because USA no longer supports the PYD.

Erdogan will meet Putin in Sochi on Tuesday. Erdogan is willing to accept the Assad regime controlling the Kurdish regions of Syria, if YPG (the armed wing of PYD, the Syrian branch of PKK) is removed from the Kurdish regions of Syria. That's amazing news. Erdogan appears to have abandoned his planned ethnic cleansing of the Syrian Kurds, and the YPG terrorists will be disarmed. We anti-Communist Kurds have won.
