Im sorry to disagree with all of you who say that Hutt River is not an independant nation because it is whoever painfull to the Government of Western Australia or the Federal Government in Canberra.

Well I'm sorry, but it's not.

Quote:
I have seen documents that comfirm this clearly and the truth is that Prince Leonard and his family and the few residents of Nain DO NOT pay Australian taxes.

NOT PAYING TAXES DOES NOT MAKE A CASE FOR INDEPENDENCE! Paul Hogan didn't pay taxes to the Australian Government for years, doesn't mean he can claim to be an independent nation now does it.

Quote:
Australia would be much better of to have official diplomatic relations as this would help the development of the Principality which is land locked and obviously will bring much needed revenue to the whole area.

Why should I, a taxpaying Australian, do anything to help this crackpot tax dodger? If he want's to develop his farm, let him pay for it. Or start paying the taxes that he is obliged, but refuses to.

Quote:
Prince Leonard is a luminary!

He's not, he's a crackpot. Much like most of the "citizens" of Hutt River.

Quote:
I have become an overseas ctizen and have used my Hutt River passport to travel without any problems except obtaining visas to the visiting countries so what better proof than this!!

And we are to take your word on it?

I dont have time for your insults ...
The truth is that in the last meeting of Consuls in Africa several Hutt River diplomats have been invited to attend....
Prince Leonard is not a crack pot and showering insults is not a  very nice way to have a civilized discussion.....
No one would get away for not paying taxes for over 30 years.... The Postal Service of the Principality is totally functional and all correspondence from Australian authorities to Prince Leonard are addressed to HRH Prince Leonard I so............... ?????
As for you taking my word or not for travellig with my Hutt River passport is of no concern to me..I am just stating a fact in a discussion forum.....
The Principality of Hutt River would be an enormous source of income once its developed for Western Australia and Australia in general the same way that Monaco is to Fance and Italy.

And I have no time to continue to read this garbage about Hutt River being independent. It's not.

Good for them. That doesn't make Hutt River independent. If you and Leonard want to take the invitation of African dictators and despots as a sign of legitimacy you go right ahead. The simple fact is that Hutt River is nothing but a farm in Western Australia. It cannot succeed or declare independence.

Quote:

He is. I have no time for people who try to break up my country and go against Her Majesty The Queen! (which is what he has done)

Quote:

And yet a lot of people do. There are 1000's of tax evaders mate. If you don't lodge an income tax return you don't pay income tax. Simple. And he would pay tax, everytime he buys something in Australia he pays GST. He would also need to pay the Medicare levy to get treated at hospital or to get bulk billed for a Doctor visit.

And he probably pays council tax as well. He would also need to pay WA's water corporation for pipes and water, Alinta gas for gas, and Western Power for electricity (all government bodies) and the GST associated with that.

Quote:
The Postal Service of the Principality is totally functional

Wow so he has a post office. Oh my well if I had of known that before...I take back what I said....he MUST be independent! HA! Anyone can set up a post office.

Quote:

So far neither you or any supporter to this joke has presented any facts.

Quote:
The Principality of Hutt River would be an enormous source of income

HA! I don't think so mate. It's a tiny farm in a state that is larger than Texas! I don't see people flocking to this farm and being a revenue raiser for WA.

Quote:
once its developed

Why should we pay to develop this farm? He hasn't been paying tax so let him use that money to build his shanty town. I don't support criminals and don't want this one getting my hard earned cash.

my friend
The Principality is the same size as Hong KOng Island... No one is suggesting that the developing money should come from Australia...in fact it should not. There are quite a few private investors from different countries around the world ( and possibly even Australians) that would surely be interested in developing the Principality...

75 sq kms is small in a state that is 2,529,880 sq kms and a country  7,617,930 sq kms...dont ya think?

And yet, we already pay for this joke. Where do you think the money comes from for the road to and from the farm? etc

Why would anyone be interested in developing a wheat farm? And Australian's would be weary of investing in the joke. The following was an investor warning from the ATO (Australian Tax Office):

Quote:

'Hutt River Province' and international business companies

Warning to potential investors

The Australian Government does not legally or otherwise recognise the so-called ‘Hutt River Province’.

The Tax Office has identified a situation where non-residents of Australia have been offered the chance to purchase international business companies and other entities purportedly incorporated or registered in the ‘Hutt River Province’.

We are concerned that the companies and other entities may be sold as part of a tax avoidance or evasion arrangement.

People should avoid any arrangements involving ‘Hutt River Province’ international business companies and any other entities as well as any associated international dealings because they have no legal basis and could be illegal.

well its easy to see that its a strategy of the Australian government... Please would any government in the world allow such things if they could legally act against them?? be logical.. The thing is that The Principality of Hutt River is an independant nation and Australia cant do athing to prevent it except these strategies... if Prince Leonard is illegal they would have locked him up 38 years ago...so give us a break please. YOu have no legal arguments nor does your government

No, it's reality.

The simple fact is the Australian government ignores him and treats him as the eccentric that he is. Of course Australia could legally act.

No, it's not.

Just because they don't act, doesn't mean they can't. As soon as Mr. Casley dies they probably will.

Quote:

It's more exciting to watch him run his little farm than to have him locked up. You obviously have no idea of the Australian psyche. We like to watch people stick it up the government, no government would lock him up at the risk of a voter outcry.

Quote:
so give us a break please

How about you give me a break and actually learn some FACT about this, instead of regurgitating the baseless claims of Mr. Casley. Learn something about the Australian and Western Australian Constitution's and realise that he cannot declare independence.

Quote:
YOu have no legal arguments nor does your government

Are you serious? The Australian and Western Australian Constitutions make it clear that this is illegal.

What are your legal claims for independence? You have none. You use false and forged documents (the AUSTEO thing below) and false claims to try and claim independence.

What a joke.

The Kosovo is a spiritual property of Serbia, as are the Slavic peoples assuming they do not belong to the Habsburgs.

Serbia was never Habsburg. It went from the Byzantines to independent to Turkinsh occupation.

If you actually read my post, I said the Kosovo was Serb, as were the Slavic peoples who did not belong to the Habsburgs. I never stated the Serbs belonged.

The 'slavic peoples' not under the Habsburgs would be under Serbia, in you view?

Yes, Serbia earned them through Right of Conquest and mutual trust after the Habsburgs were undermined. Should the Habsburgs reassert, they're welcome to take them back as they likely would.

well joke or no joke, I travel on a Hutt River passport.
And I assure you that no country in the world would allow such a situation if they could do something about it as you state....
By the way I suggest you visit the National Museum of Canberra..There is a permanent exhibit on the Principality!
And I assure you Prince Leonard has not forged any documents!

Well I don't know if you do or not. You would only be able to travel to the few countries that recognise the farm. And Australia is in no position to tell another country its policy on recognition of a separatist region. Just the same way Spain cannot dictate to Australia if it decided to recognise Catalonia or the Basque region as independent.

No, there is a exhibition on Leonard. This in no way confers legitimacy, as I said, he is treated as an eccentric joke.

Quote:

Clearly he has if he claims that the AUSTEO document is legitimate. Because as is common knowledge and official policy and procedure, absolutely nobody outside of the highest levels of the Australian government EVER set eyes on an AUSTEO document, let alone get a copy of one.

And it would NEVER be provided to someone who is claiming to be a foreign nation. It is clear that this is a forgery and that Mr. Casley is a liar for trying to pass this off as a legitimate document.
