I hope others will give their input. In the meantime, I would point out that Father John Hardon, S.J., in his Modern Catholic Dictionary, which received a post Vatican II imprimatur (certification that the contents are in conformity with Catholic morals and dogma), stated that the "Syllabus of Errors" was still binding exteriorly and interiorly in conscience on every Catholic.

Even the Second Vatican Council, in its "Declaration on Religious Freedom (Dignitatis humanae)" stated that it intended to "leave untouched traditional Catholic doctrine on the moral duty of men and societies toward the true religion and toward the one Church of Christ." Nothing could be much clearer than that!

On topic angel here...

I never fully understood why we annexed Hawaii. All I know is that some American landowners wanted the monarchy gone.

I understand that in those days race may have been a key factor, and greed is always a major player in any Age.

While I am no historian of American history (I only know a little), I think it was because we wanted to increase profits from the sugar-cane industry or something like that. That, and also that America has been run, under one name or another, by democratic-Troskyists for the past 80 years. They couldn't stand having a nation so close to them not being able to govern itself. Amazing that we can take over countries the size of Afganistan and anex Hawii, but we can't kill an 80 year old Castro 90 miles from our coastline? (Sorry, a bit off topic, but that's always confounded me.)

Hawaii ain't that close, its a LONG SWIM!!!

On the Castro deal, here's my guess:

More Money in Miami than Honolulu is owned by the locals of the respective islands.

It was fruit. Dole (remember Dole pineapple?) was the leader of the revolt and President of The Republic of Hawaii. And since this all took place 113 years ago, what does 80 years of "democratic-Trotskyist" rule have to do with it. Also, I'm a bit confused by the 80 years! That would put us`back to 1926, when the US was run by the Republicans in the interests of the big corporations and was intensly isolationist. "Capitalism in one country" hardly sounds trotskyist.

You are right, I got my years mixed up. Told ya I wasn't big on American history!  I was thinking about TR's administration. He did all of the Carribean, the Phillipeans, Cuba, etc., and I just got it mixed up. Sorry.

Does Dole still exist?

I dislike Roosevelt because he split the vote, which is the worst and easiest political mistake to make.

By the way, Lev Bronstein was born in 1876 so I have no idea what Trotskyism has to do with this topic.

Also, is this one of those sites that lets you go off-topic? If so, you guys are cool. If not you are still pretty cool, not as cool as Legionworld, but good enough.

Long Live Legion!

Legionworld is a fansite dedicated to the veneration of the Super-heros who inhabit 3006 AD of the DC Universe. DC Universe is where Superman,Batman,Wonder Woman, and all their friends, allies, and enemies live.

They especially are devoted to the Legion of Super-Heros which is really cool.I love comics. Superboy lived on Hawaii for awhile which is my weak attempt of trying to reincorparate back in the topic.

I bring up Trotskyism, because the leaders of America right now, were, and still are, Trotskyists. They still believe in exporting permanent revolution, even at the tip of a cruise-missle. Instead of is being Communist revolution, its now Democratic revolution. They used to support international Comunist revolution, but left complete Trotskyism, and became democratic-Trotskyists. Everything is connected somehow, you just need to search for the how.

I find it very appauling that they chose the palace as the sight of the celebration.  The celebrating of the entry of Hawaii into the union is done more by the mainland then by that state itself.  Hawaiians very proud of their heritage and do not refer to themselves as American ever but as Hawaiians.  They had a ruling sovereign and there is huge sentiment for that state to independent and with it's ruling sovereign at the helm once again.  However Hawaii's strategic important to America in the Pacific Ocean for our navy will prevent the U.S. government from ever allowing this to be a possibility.  We are, unfortunately the modern incarnation of the Roman empire.  Usurping countries and imposing our will on the world.
