Yes, may His Imperial Majesty Emperor Vittorio Emanuele IV of Abyssinia be restored to his throne . (I'm a little surprised to see so many Catholics prefer a Coptic over a Catholic monarch --puzzles me)

What a way to welcome a new member... Well I for one I am curious about the claim of the House of Savoy to the Ethiopian throne. Does the Prince of Naples make any claim to Ethiopia?

The claim was renounced by Victor Emmanuel III in 1943. Personally I think the claim of the Prince of Naples even to Italy is rather shaky, I have never quite been able to make up my mind but I do find the arguments advanced for the Duke of Aosta persuasive. As far as I know neither of them makes any claim to Ethiopia, HIM Haile Selassie I having been recognised as legitimate Emperor by the Italian kingdom before it became defunct.

Perhaps legitimacy trumps religion?

There is no claim by the house of Savoy to the Ethiopian throne. As Peter metioned King Victor Emanuelle III renounced both the Ethiopian and Albanian thrones which were seized illegitimately, and aknowledged the rightful monarchs of both states. The Savoys have very cordial relations with the Imperial Family of Ethiopia, and that includes both the elder and Aosta lines of the Italian royal house.

The monarchy of Ethiopia can be restored but the crown prince him self must make moves towards the restoration of the monarchy.

The Haile Selassie I Memorial Organization marked the 116th Birthday of His Late Majesty Emperor Haile Selassie I of Ethiopia this past Sunday in Addis Ababa, an event that was carried in the official Ethiopian press in what appears to be a thaw between the current government and monarchists. The Organization has been awarding scholarships to needy students in Ethiopia, and the event was attended by members of the Imperial family and former Imperial officials. The attached is a link to the story from the official Ethiopian News Agency covering the event. The Emperor's birthday is actually on this coming Wednesday.
His Imperial Majesty was born in the small town of Ejersa Goro, just outside the city of Harrar in eastern Ethiopia to his parents, Ras Makonnen and Woizero Yeshimebet. His father Ras Makonnen was governor of Harrarge province, and a first cousin of the then reigning Emperor Menelik II. When his Imperial Majesty was born, Ethiopia was a land locked empire largely dominated by the regional aristocracy, education was completely in the hands of the Orthodox Church or the Mosques, and modern schools were only for the children of the aristocracy. Electricity, hospitals, schools, railroads, automobiles, a modern banking system, etc were all in the very infancy of their existance and hardly existed outside of Addis Ababa. There was no university, and the army was largely made up of the feudal levies of the various great nobles of the Empire. By the time of the end of his reign, Ethiopia had hundreds of schools, agriculture was carried out in more modern methods, industries were expanding, the cities were growing, Ethiopia had a fine University, one of Africa's most powerful armies, an airforce and navy that were the envy of Africa, education was available to all, and a modern administrative system had been laid out for the country. Addis Ababa had become the diplomatic capital of Africa and Ethiopia had an outlet to the sea with the Federation and then Union with Eritrea. It was Ethiopia's greates moment in modern times.http://ena.gov.et/EnglishNews/2008/Jul/20Jul08/63286.htm

We should consider creating a restoration monarchist party to help restore the Ethiopian monarchy.
