Could this be a way forward? They're targeting the article of the constitution which enshrines republicanism, as a step towards opening debate on restoration.

I have talked before that republicans in existing monarchies have failed to persuade most people, and that we monarchists must learn to do better. So where do we start?

We were fairing better with the democrats in office....

Republicanism must be enshrined constitutionally, with no chance of discussion, and potential claimants banned (although that seems to have abated) because there is always a yearning for traditionalism, continuity, a link to the past and hope for the future, something a Royal Family provides. No elected head of state can provide that.
