My father has launched a new blog for his commentary on arts and culture in central Indiana. I wanted particularly to call Peter's attention to it as he mentions Bob Dylan in his first post.

In 1994 in Japan, Dylan gave his only performances ever backed by a full orchestra, They were an utter triumph, so, of course, he never did anything like that again. The most sublime, majestic, thrilling performances ever of A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall came from those shows, here is one of them. Blonde On Blonde, one of the great artistic achievements by anyone, may well be a favourite of serial substance abusers but is also the work of a great singer and songwriter at the peak of his powers, backed by consummate musicianship. Dylan's career has had many peaks since, and even last year he released an album, Tempest, that I don't hesitate to call great, but Blonde On Blonde and 1974's Blood On The Tracks are in most people's estimation the two highest, also in mine. That's a point of disagreement, but the blog post was well-written and its arguments interesting, thanks.

I've already subscribed and commented. I hope to learn from him!

Thanks Jovan!  Just so you know, he's not using the word "retirement" as he will be continuing to work as an arts journalist via new venues, for which the blog is hopefully only the beginning.
