Not sure if many people realize that Madame Iturbide, and a number of her children, are buried in the tiny burial yard at St. John the Evangelist Church in Philadelphia, PA.

Madame Iturbide was the widow of Agustin de Iturbide, the first Emperor of Mexico.

After her husband was executed, she and her children emigrated to the United States and eventually settled in Philadelphia.

I wonder how many other royals are buried in the United States?  While she has a proper grave stone, there is no historical marker drawing attention to the presence of a royal in the graveyard.

I'm 97 miles northwest of Philadelphia. Thank You for letting me know this. I am ever putting together the bits of the "Pennsylvania Monarchist" picture.

What other bits of the "Pennsylvania Monarchist" picture do you know about?  I can think of:

1) Joseph Bonaparte's house at 16 Washington Square, Philadelphia.
2) French Azilum along the Susquehanna River, near Towanda -- home to monarchist refugees from the French revolution.
3) Madame Iturbide's house on South Broad Street, Philadelphia, and grave at St. John the Evangelist, Philadelphia.
