I really doubt any state in the USA, including Texas, is willing to put up with a monarchy as a government. There might be American monarchists, but America is too far gone on its republican beliefs for monarchy to take its root. I'd be more willing to have hope in European and Asian countries than the USA.

I agree, although let's add Africa to that list.  We only have three soveriegn monarchs in Africa today, I'd love to see more restored.  Ethiopia, Egypt, Rwanda, Burundi, Tunisia, Libya, all have imperial and royal houses that should rightfully be restored.

Oh, yes, I forgot to mention that. Thank you.

Did y'all read my post?

Is this long-term plan as easily dismissed by "I'd be more willing to have hope in European and Asian countries than the USA."? Your objection is totally valid, but I live here. What do you want me to do, move? The whole point of being a monarchist for me is to guarantee the long-term health of a place and people. I am connected with our land here, and its people. I proposed a slow cultural shift, which I think could work, if not to establish monarchy, then at least make the future more readily open to a royal house. What do I do for me and my children now? Vote Republican? I think not.

The reason I think these hypothetical strategies are useful is because out of them may spring good fruit for real people, like myself, living under the tyranny of the magic "public will" that only exists in the mind of salesmen. For this reason, I don't think a simple dismissal is helpful.

Mine iis not a 'simple dismissal'.

Mine is a resigned 'yeah, good luck with all that'.

We once seemed serious and active.

Then the economy tanked and most put 'money today' ahead of a dream for restoration.

Here's a line of argument: a) every state, at whatever level, should ultimately be under a monarch. It's alright to have republican-style institutions at lower levels, especially a city or smaller, but they are not completely independent. The monarch has ultimate sovereignty over them at the macro-level. b) in the case where a republic is independent - it's in a period of interregnum. This has been true for the United States for over two centuries - but there will be a return of king at some point in the future, for the whole state or a part of it, whether or not it seems likely in the near future. Monarchy is a more natural state of things, republics are fragile.

West Florida is portions of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana.  The 'state borders' established by the Republic are not to be allowed to prevent the restoration.

I'm certainly sympathetic to the fact that our economy is so... dire.

A return to the land is, however, a practical option for confronting the economic crisis on an individual level. And a distributist economy is more friendly to the arising of a monarch.

What is the point of this forum if not to extrapolate solutions? Are y'all here merely to talk about royal houses? I have as much respect for them and wishes for the return of their dignity as anybody, but right now, the restoration of the Royal Houses of Europe is a far less practical goal then cultural change on the ground floor, as it were. We can actually DO something there.

I have, and am, and I shall continue to plant.

I no longer hold out hope for a harvest in my lifetime.
Call it cynical, or realistic, it matters not.

Keep calm, and struggle on.

Well, I'm glad you feel that way... and good luck, from the heart.

But that's not what I'm talking about here, and it's not what I'm interested in. I'm still quite young, and am going to have children. I can't afford to be cynical, or even realistic.

You know?

I'm not trying to change anyone here but I am really quite serious about what I'm trying to do and I'm looking for suggestions and criticisms, not "that's not realistic."

You can be a dedicated monarchist in Texas, who wants a monarchy in Texas.   Argue with people about why monarchy is better and could work in Texas.   Find some other people who may agree with you and do stuff together to advocate for this cause.   In these times, that may be all that happens, but rest content that you are fighting the good fight and you have the better deal.
