In a historic first, it has been announced that Mohammed V, current incumbent of Malaysia's rotational kingship, is to step down three years early and return to his home state Kelantan. It is unclear whether this is linked to his recent reported wedding to a Russian model.

Well this is a complete shock to me and was definitely 'not on my radar' for this year at all. I trust the other Sultans and Kings of Malaysia to be granted the wisdom to select someone that is more suitable in temperment to rule over the Elective Kingdom for the next five years.

Dear Sir, dear Moderator, could you explain the meaning of the term "Russian model"? I do not quite understand what you mean in these words. Thank you in advance.

One of the meanings of 'model' in English is someone, invariably attractive, who is photographed wearing particular brands of clothes etc. with the intention of promoting their sale. This was the meaning intended here.

Yes, of course, I know exactly this meaning of the word "model" in the English language. Although English is not for me, as a native language, but I understand it quite well and freely read it. But the crux of the matter is not the point.

I did not quite understand why the act of the King of Malaysia is somehow related to the "Russian model"? Alas, in the last 101 years Russia can not serve as any monarchist model. Therefore, I did not understand the meaning of this metaphor.

If you, sir, can explain this metaphor in more detail, I will sincerely thank you for it.

It wasn't a metaphor, it was a lady.

To expand on Peter's last post, the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, or King of Malaysia, was recently married to an actual Russian fashion model in Moscow.

Alas and alas, nothing good will end for His Majesty. Russian girls-models are not ladies, they are plebeys. And in such a "love" I do not believe.

Stories known case in the twentieth century, when the King married a beauty commoner. It's about King Sikkim. How did this end? Although the new Queen sincerely wanted to be the Queen, adopted Buddhism and did a lot for her subjects, the Indian secret services accused her of having links with the CIA. Then there was the divorce of the King and the Queen, a fake "referendum", the occupation of Sikkim by India and the destruction of statehood. Indian secret services used this wedding to discredit the monarchy and territorial expansion.

Russia is even worse. In Russia, people from the KGB rule who will not miss a single chance to solve their problems. And given the fact that Russia is now in international isolation and frantically searching for new allies, this is especially important for Mr. Putin.

Therefore, His Majesty the King did the right thing, abdicating the throne. If he remained like the King, he would be turned into a "Russian puppet." He understood this, and he denied it.

I would not be surprised, by the way, if the acquaintance of His Majesty the King with this woman was a special operation of the KGB. Alas, it is very possible.
