I'm a member of the BML and I frequently check up on their page on Facebook, mostly to see if they've shared any new articles or whether or not the number of likes has gone up. Fortunately, there has been a steady -- if somewhat slow -- growth in numbers, and we appear to have some passionate members as well.

I've never actually gotten round to signing on to the IML, however. Chances are I'll have to rectify that oversight sometime in the near future.

I suppose, perhaps it's just semantics, I just wanted to make sure I'm becoming an official member and not just subcribing to a magazine is all.

What exactly is 'controversial' about the British Monarchist League name?

The British Monarchist League's name has been "controversial" because it so closely resembles that of the much older [International] Monarchist League which was founded in 1943 and as I said is a different organisation.  Predictably the leadership of the IML were concerned (as communicated in a letter to me after the topic first came up here on this forum) that this resemblance would cause confusion, though I don't know what if anything came of that concern.  I support the BML completely, am Facebook Friends with some of its leaders (including, obviously, you) and understand why you might have wanted to start a new organisation (the IML not being as youth-oriented and internet-savvy as the BML) but nevertheless can't help wishing that a more distinct name, such as "British Monarchist Alliance" or "Association," had been chosen that would not resemble that of the original Monarchist League.  I suppose it's too late now.  I hope there are no difficulties among monarchists in the UK over this issue; the last thing we need is disunity.

The International Monarchist Conference (IMC) seem much more active than the old International Mmonarchist League…
