Hi everyone.

I thought it would be good to introduce myself. I am a recent college graduate in English, a recent convert to Orthodox Christianity, and I have recently taken an interest in Monarchism. I hope to gain a more thorough understanding of this system of government with your help.

Welcome aboard, Constantine!

Hello, I've been luring for a a year or so and finally decided to join.

I have learned so much from reading this site I want to be able to tell you how much I appreciate the knowledge I have gained.

You are, for the most part, a sincere, educated, helpful and wonderfully devoted group so I feel no trepidation in uncloaking and saying hi.

Politically I am a free-market anarchist or ancap. Certainly not  one of those smelly, whiny, grasping, economically illiterate, collectivist types. But if I was not that I would be a Monarchist as I recognize that if one were to have a government a Monarchy is the best choice, even factoring in the human failings and frailties that beset all of us, even those of exalted rank.

I understand the power of having a long-term leader who recognizes the need to maintain a prosperous and stable land. For individuals having the knowledge that certain things are taken care of  is important in that it means that there is no instability to worry about and that frees folks up to engage in productive endeavors that betters their lives and the lives of those they care about.

Add in the majesty and the romance and the history and being part of some great, unbroken line of history and there is a powerful set reasons to not only be a Monarchist but to be one wholly and without reservation.

So yes, I get where you guys are coming from, but having lived under the politicians and bureaucrats that the US produces has left me with a nigh-unshakable distrust of anyone who has power and the institutions that are supposed to keep them in check.

And looking at Great Britain, despite The Queen's obvious intelligence and devotion to her people and those of her predecessors they cannot or will not bring the political swine to heel. And it's not just GB, politicians ooze across and undulate across all of Europe leaving an ugly stain wherever they go.

If monarchs were to assert themselves and set about regaining their property rights that have been usurped from them and casting out the curs that are not fit to even be spoken of, I would ally myself with these newly emboldened royals. However from my reading about on the internet this does not appear to be likely. This is a sad state of affairs.

So there, with the help of some friendly rum, I have made the required first post. I hope I have not been boring or divisive.

Cenebrand.

My name is Sam Starrett. I operate the blog The Rambling Royalist, a relative newcomer to the monarchosphere, but one I hope has added something of value to the discussions.

I am a firm Christian and a monarchist of what might be called a "Prussian Constitutionalist" or "mixed government" or "Stuart-era tricameralism" type, but I favor variation according to local custom.

I am also, just to get this out of the way, a Legitimist. Louis XX is the King of France. Thank you.

Welcome, and I look forward to your contributions, even if you do have a mistaken opinion on the French succession. So do some others here and we all get on fine despite it, partly because the subject has been argued so exhaustively (and exhaustingly) in the past that no one cares to get into it again. But there is much else to talk about, and I hope we will have some conversations.
