I have had the privilege of meeting Wilson Gavin twice at AML functions. I am still trying to come to terms with this. RIP.

Certainly, it's a tragic event. May he rest in peace.

I saw this first on Facebook and the fact that it is now here as well shows how dreadful it is.

I did not know Wilson Gavin. I had also assumed that he had died in an accident or from a disease.

May he rest in peace.

Wilson Gavin was my Facebook friend for over five years. He was one of the most amazing people I have ever known. We never met in person, but interacted online frequently. I am utterly devastated and have been grieving all week. This is the first time I've checked in here, but I posted a tribute to him at my blog.

The individual who attempted to politicise this thread and criticised my beloved friend has been banned without warning and his comments deleted (which required also deleting comments responding to him, though I agreed with them). No further such comments will be tolerated in this or any other thread. This is the only forum on the internet that I control and I will not allow it to be used to criticise Wilson.

I know that Wilson's unbearably tragic death is connected to many controversial issues of our time. He was undeniably a political person, and our friendship (though it grew deeper) was often political. Nevertheless, I am really not in the mood for political points of any kind. What matters to me is that I've lost my friend, there will be no more chats with him, and I will never get to meet him in this world as we had hoped we would. His parents (to whom I mailed a letter today) now face unfathomable grief that will never go away. I have never cried so much as I have this week, and will treasure his memory forever.

I just (re)discovered that Wilson joined this forum in 2015 as "SacredHeart."

He didn't stay active long, but made 37 posts. I had almost forgotten that he had ever been a member here, but knowing his e-mail address was able to find his account.

Why did I make the mistake to check social media at all today let alone this blog and I would have been spared such awful and horrible news!!!! I am shocked and sadden by this. I know he was your friend and I am truly sorry for your loss I really mean it! He seems ( seemed I can't believe I have to say this)like such a brilliant lad and I never had a bad time interacting with him the times I did which was nowhere as much as yours. He was a movement unto himself. I loved everything he had to say on matters and believed the future had big plans for him. It seemed that God had others. I will miss him and his posts. It seems there was a spot of trouble on this thread and it was taken care of. Bad form for whoever it was. Royalcello I say this to you, we may never talk like we once did and I am okay with that but I say this and MEAN it I am truly sorry for the lost of your friend and sorry that you are going through this I would never wish this on anyone. I will pray for his soul and his parents who must be mad with grief.
