Hello to all.

I am Smurf.  I am using a new account because I've regrettably forgotten the details of my old account.  I do not know which procedures may be necessary and whether the accounts will be merged, etc.  I'll leave that to the administrator.

I am back!

Though I doubt many of you will remember me.  I am a Roman Catholic from Scotland and I am twenty-one years old.  Currently I am a Humanities college student and as of last week I have sent my University applications so hopefully I will soon be an undergraduate History student.  I enjoy all the usual interests that present me in an intellectual light.  Theology, philosophy, history, linguistics and literature, etc.  But enjoy the more proletariat pursuits of football and alcohol as well.

The last time I was here I was undecided on my position on monarchy.  I am no longer undecided.  I believe that monarchy is the best of all governments, in the words of Pope Pius IX, and now I am seeking rather to understand why that is so beyond the simple belief that it's just... right.  I also need to decide just which strain of monarchist I am.  And yes, to whom it may concern, I accept Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth as sovereign of Great Britain.  Though I know which side I would have taken when it was actually of issue... I am admittedly still struggling with Irish-related questions.

So that's me in a nutshell.  I will not promise that I wont try and convert any of you!

God bless!
The Smurf

The power of the rosary is beyond description."

I too am a Catholic sir and while I support the House of Windsor, I have my reservations. But unlike some trad Catholics, especially the Irish, of whom I can boast noble blood, who tend to be very anti-English. Since most of my blood is English I tend to favour the English and find the Irish mindset of many Catholics frustrating because they seem to think they are the most Catholic people in the world, along with the Polish. But I can understand come of the Irish frustrations, especially among Catholics, as I have my own frustrations as an English blooded Catholic. I would not be so against a united British Isles, that is Ireland and Great Britain whole under one monarch, but I would not be against Ireland having its own Catholic monarch either. I am not for Scottish separation, though I am a fan of the House of Stuart. But I think their chance of being restored is like hoping for the English to one day rule over their former American colonies. I think America will fall apart one day, like a republics and democracies do, and as things are showing they will now, but I think what will rise are many new nations.

My most dear lord, king and husband,

The hour of my death now drawing on, the tender love I owe you forceth me, my case being such, to commend myself to you, and to put you in remembrance with a few words of the health and safeguard of your soul which you ought to prefer before all worldly matters, and before the care and pampering of your body, for the which you have cast me into many calamities and yourself into many troubles. For my part, I pardon you everything, and I wish to devoutly pray God that He will pardon you also. For the rest, I commend unto you our daughter Mary, beseeching you to be a good father unto her, as I have heretofore desired. I entreat you also, on behalf of my maids, to give them marriage portions, which is not much, they being but three. For all my other servants I solicit the wages due them, and a year more, lest they be unprovided for. Lastly, I make this vow, that mine eyes desire you above all things.

Before Peter or Theodore jumps in to point it out, I'll do it. The Royal House of Stuart died out on 13 July 1807 with the death of His Eminent and Royal Highness Henry, Cardinal-Duke of York.
