I wanted to introduce myself to everyone here in the forums.

My name is David, I'm 21 years old and I'm Portuguese and Catholic. I'm living in Lisbon, and I'm currently in the university studying History (1st year of university).

I don't know exactly when I started to feel interested about Royal Families and Monarchy. I guess it was 2 or 3 years ago, when I started looking around the internet, and began to read about King Manuel II of Portugal (the last Portuguese King). I "fell in love", so to speak, with him - and I devour every biography of him. I guess that was the "spark" that ignited me into taking interest in Monarchies across the world, and to start defending the Monarchy in Portugal (through the person of the Duke of Braganza) - although I always "cry" when I remember my beloved Braganza-Saxe-Coburg and Gotha's.

As some people have already asked me (about why I defend the Monarchy) - no, I don't have any title, nor do I descend from any noble family. I defend that regime because I think it is a part of the solution to save Portugal, while we still can save our dear Lusitania.

I like to read books (about Royalty), especially about King George V, Wilhelm II or Nicholas II. The three emperors, ironically. And obviously, anything to do with Portuguese Kings and Queens, I'm in it! I also love Queen Victoria and Prince Albert (especially Prince Albert).

I collect medals (I currently have the Pour le Mérite and the Grand-Iron Cross from Imperial Germany; Order of Christ necklace from Portugal (Republic); the Coronation Jubileum medal of Franz-Joseph of Austria-Hungary and the Order of St. John necklace of the United Kingdom). I collect stamps (young collection) and euro coins from all over Europe. I love drawing; genealogy and heraldry; history (XIX century in general); reading books; and everything about the Portuguese Empire.

So... hello everyone!

Welcome to the forum!  Great to have you.  I have long wanted to attract more continental European monarchists (most of the existing active members live in English-speaking countries, but I know many Europeans speak English) and I look forward to your contributions.  I wish you all the best for the Portuguese monarchist cause!

Welcome ManuelII! Glad to have another Portuguese monarchist!
"Progress, far from consisting in change, depends on retentiveness. Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it." - George Santayana

Ave, ManuelII. May Our Lady of Fatima and Blessed Nun'Álvares Pereira, O.Carm. Pray for Portugal!

'Monarchy can easily be ‘debunked;' but watch the faces, mark the accents of the debunkers. These are the men whose tap-root in Eden has been cut: whom no rumour of the polyphony, the dance, can reach - men to whom pebbles laid in a row are more beautiful than an arch. Yet even if they desire equality, they cannot reach it. Where men are forbidden to honour a king they honour millionaires, athletes or film-stars instead: even famous prostitutes or gangsters. For spiritual nature, like bodily nature, will be served; deny it food and it will gobble poison.' C.S. Lewis God save Her Majesty Elizabeth the Second, by the Grace of God of the United Kingdom, Canada and Her other Realms and Territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, etc.! Vive le Très haut, très puissant et très excellent Prince, Louis XX, Par la grâce de Dieu, Roi de France et de Navarre, Roi Très-chrétien!
