Actually, the dinosaurs are still with us, though we call them birds now. Could be a connection with the hat theme there...

Actually, we're having an unseasonably warm fall (except for last Sturday! Windchills around 10 F.), but that would be  warm day. Overnight temperatures have been below freezing for a couple of weeks now.   ***Edited to add***Last year at this time, we had already had two or three serious snowfalls. This year, so far, just a few flurries.

The weather is pretty much the same for me. It sounds like yours is a little cooler, but I think we are in very similar climates. That must be why the Baron does not realise the glory of the beret ?

He lives in Florida, eh? He doesn't appreciate a good climate!

Now here is a reactionary hat...

Then again, it seems that some forms of hat constantly re-assert themselves. I could easily see this being brought back with slight alterations. And no feather plume, of course. Nobody today wears a plume on his hat, which is a shame. Even fly-fishing hats had peacock feathers on them, but even that is no longer fashionable for fly-fishing.

It's true ! We get the full gamut of colours and temperatures. Eating pumpkin pie would simply seem out of place in Florida. And we have more opportunities for good hats and coats. Plus, the cold makes one tougher.

The Bowler is too, we call them Bowlers.  They're only found in restricted habitats - maybe we could get the nature conservancy to buy up the races?

Pumpkin pie is available here.  I usually cook on for Thanksgiving, and another for Christmas.

You do have more reasons to wear the hat and coat.n  But as my blood is rather then, I've put my trench coat to use already.

But there is special pride in wearing the black double-breasted with the black fedora to the graveside of a departed friend in August.

I should have known that, having worn 3 different ones as a pickle in HS JROTC.
