Nice.

Now, behave oneself as a gentle with a Fedora should.

(No more shouting in empty rooms.....)

I wore mine for official and formal occasions - back when I had a IT job.

It later became blood stained and was not replaced (well not exactly, I've a nice tweed 'Bear Bryant' hat now...).

And now you've let the secret out.

Pity that.

You were amusing for awhile.....

What do you mean 'gone'? Seriously, I've worn the beret for over 25 years. And despite the common misconception, it's Basque, not French and the Basque lands straddle the border of Spain and France.

I'd have never though of you as a beret man.

Proper head gear doesn't just layabout on a man's head - it has a proper backbone, just as the gentleman that wears it.

(And it may have originally been Basque but they didn't protect the copyright and the frenchies have definitely stolen it.)

A hat that bends over backwards says a lot about its wearer.  What exactly it says is best left for those of stout heart.

But it's so comfortable!

And as to the copyright. It went through a fad in France for a few decades. Outside the Basque lands it's seldom seen in France today. I once saw a pic in Nat'l Geographic that, at first glance, looked like a field of poppies. Upon closer ezamination, it was a pic of 10,000+ Basque men gathered in a town square, all wearing the red beret.

If it were about comfort my man, one would go about topless during the temperate times of the year.

(And no, I don't mean bare chested.. rather,  I mean with one's head uncovered.)

And the worst of the frenchies don't live in France, rather they call upon others to emulate its excesses.

Not a good idea when one has, like me, black hair.
