A very happy birthday to the world's longest reigning Monarch, His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand who turns 85 on 5 December (which it already is in Thailand).

It has been announced that Her Majesty Queen Sirikit will not attend the festivities in honor of the King's birthday due to ill health.  The Queen is reported to be quite weak with impaired blood flow to her brain, and is not capable of standing for any significant period of time.
