The Greek government apparently intends to sell the home of the King of Greece that it illegally seized.  Although the European Court had ruled that the King was entitled to compensation, the compensation awarded was a mere 1% of the property's value.  Member's of the Greek royal family are buried on the property as well.

Abomination, though hardly surprising.  I don't even recognize the Greek republican government's right to exist, let alone sell Tatoi.

Selling the Tatoi estate would be a reprehensible thing to do, and would rebound badly upon the Greek government's reputation. Hopefully the Greek government, in spite of its economic troubles, will re-think this decision. If it does come to pass that Tatoi is put on the market, hopefully it will be bought by some sort of historic trust, that will maintain its royal tradition and origins, and maintain an association with the royal family.

Even if one were to consider the paltry compensation paid to the King for Tatoi as fair (which it isn't even remotely), it's beyond belief that they would sell the property along with the King's ancestors graves.  It's disgusting.

It seems that there is considerable feeling against the sale in Greece, not just among monarchists but many republicans as well who consider Tatoi as part of their historic heritage.  They may have trouble finding a buyer.

Hopefully King Constantine buys the property back even though it is rightfully his.
