The war will remain entirely hypothetical, and introducing such an absurdity to the argument is merely a not-very-successful attempt at trawling a red herring.

The nonsense about the Spanish monarchy is clearly a fig-leaf for our German-Iraqi friend to advance his otherwise dubious ideas on Gibraltar. Not only is the war unlikely, but why would Spain's undoubted and well-deserved loss lead to the overthrow of the Spanish monarchy, if it didn't push for the conflict?

Here's an idea. If it comes to war, we will just have to promise to occupy Madrid and make sure the monarchy remains! Can't say fairer than that. Now no monarchist could fail to support Britain.
