I can't help noticing that the great majority of the members here (and all of those with more than one post to their name) are male.  Surely female monarchists exist.  Any thoughts on why women don't seem to participate here?

Certainly there are aspects of monarchy that one would think would appeal to women.

I'm not trying to fill any "diversity quotas" or anything, just wondering....

This site tends to be about monarchy as an ideal and an institution, and I think women generally get less hung up over ideologies and legalities than men. If you go to forums where the discussion is more about royal personalities (past or present), they tend to have a majority of women posters.

Wow, I am going to have to say that I agreed with Paul on this one.  I bet neither one of us saw the day when that would happen

You're probably right.  The funny thing is though, I actually like that stuff too, though I got tired of the various Royal Message Boards as it seemed that a more traditionalist/ideological perspective was not welcome there.  I sometimes wonder if I'm the only person in the world who subscribes to both Chronicles (highbrow American paleoconservative monthly) and Majesty.  For someone "hung up over ideologies and legalities," I have a rather large collection of issues of Hello!, Hola!, Royals, and Point de Vue.

So, how about Princess Kiko's pregnancy?

Yesterday I was thinking about the lack of women on the forum and the reasons why.  I would go along with the theory that men are more interested in debating/discussing various political systems.  Frankly, I hate the gossipy side of monarchy...who's marriage is in trouble, who looks sick, etc.  That's one reason I'm enjoying this forum!

I know some female monarchists but can only think of one who would possibly participate on a forum on anything like a regular basis. I can't paint with too broad a brush on this; it all depends on the individual. One doesn't have a computer, another would never have the time, one cannot stand to be indoors for any time at all and one I think would fit the mold of being more interested in the people than the cause (don't mistake her for a gossip-monger though "her" royal favorites have all been dead at least a few centuries). There are other "monarchy" but not "monarchist" forums which I've seen that have plenty of female members, but none are the sort I care to participate on -meaning mostly dominated by who's dating who, what did princess "x" wear, which prince was seen with what girl etc, etc.

I didn't mean to imply that women are necessarily "gossipy". Being interested in the personalities of royalty can include being interested in the significant, important, issues of the day as played out by those personalities. To put it another way, they might be interested in the pragmatic realities of royalty and political power, instead of having their heads in the clouds with a load of ideological theory and dreams

Now Paul why did you have to go and ruin it.  We were finally seeing eye to eye

Hi,

I subscribe to "Majesty" and "Royalty" too.

Although Roayalty has started to put models on their covers and fashions in their content, which I objected to and so did several others.

There is another publication called "Royalty Digest" but I think they went out of business.

As did I; that's one reason I did not renew my subscription.  I also got tired of the typos and errors.  Majesty is a higher quality publication.

I'm a young female French monarchist.

I thought it was too good to last I know far too many talented, intelligent, practical and sensible women to be dismissive of the female sex; and far too many stupid, irrational, arrogant and dillusional men to be unreservedly complimentary about my own sex.

I think that the French monarchy is very interesting and I would highly advise the books Trianon and Madame Royale to any one who is interested in it.

Living in *La Salle* County and seeing the French lillies of the Ancien Regime among the six flags of Texas every day down here, I must agree. Lovely picture of the Queen you have there young lady -she came from very good stock on her mother's side  (I'm sure most here know who I mean)
