It is being reported that 20 year old Don Felipe de Marichalar y Borbon, son of Her Royal Highness the Infata Elena, and nephew of King Felipe VI, was personally active in recent protests against the government of Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, and that he may have had the approval of his uncle the King to do so.  In the aftermath of the Catalan attempt at secession from Spain, and treasonous efforts by republican elements to abet them, the leftist government has found itself being heavily criticized for it's efforts at preserving national unity and stability.  Protests have been carried out criticizing the government and urging for the electoral defeat of the Prime Minister and is party at upcoming elections.

Don Felipe de Marichalar has been rumored to be a member of the Vox Movement, a party that emerged from the conservative Peoples Party, and is variously reputed to have a right-wing populist/far-right political philosophy.  It is believed that he may have participated in protests with his face hidden.  The palace however has denied any foreknowledge of Don Felipe's participation in any political rally or event.

Don Felipe Juan Froilán de Todos los Santos de Marichalar y Borbon, often popularly refered to as "Froilán" is the only son of the Duchess of Lugo Infata Elena of Spain, eldest child of King Juan Carlos and Queen Sofia. He is thus nephew to King Felipe VI.  His father is Jaime de Marichalar y Sáenz de Tejada, a member of a prominent Basque Carlist aristocratic family who was divorced from Infanta Elena in 2009. He is fourth in line to throne of Spain behind his cousins, the Princess Leonore of Asturias and the Infata Sofia, and his mother Infanta Elena.  He is the senior-most male in the line of succession.
