It is with no pleasure that I report that I have banned and deleted "KYMonarchist."  By refusing to respond appropriately either publicly or privately to my demand to an apology for his totally unacceptable (but hardly unprecedented) outburst on the gay marriage thread, he has demonstrated contempt for me and this forum.  He was often a great contributor to the forum and I kept hoping he would change, so in the past simply deleted his most egregious posts, but he does not seem willing to try and I am not willing to do this anymore.  While I do not believe that anyone was ever in any actual danger from KYM, I cannot allow visitors to get the idea that threats of violence constitute acceptable discourse among monarchists.   This is my own decision and not merely an attempt to appease any other member offended by his conduct. I need a break from him and his drama which is in no way conducive to the monarchist cause.

Responses to this thread are permitted but please bear in mind that KYM cannot defend himself.

That post was ridiculous and I was not in the least surprised this morning, having seen and responded to it last night, that it and my response were gone. I hope KYM will not be gone forever, and that you will allow him back after a cooling-off period. I understand your position entirely though, he could be a great contributor as you say and I personally found him essentially likable, but as you also say he never seemed to learn. I hope he does this time, and comes back and demonstrates it.

I'm also sorry to hear this, but I understand and respect your decision. It was my impression that while he had trouble in debating properly himself, he was without equal in keeping the forum up to date on all sorts of issues, and was a starting point for many interesting discussions with that.

The wording of this may seem harsh, and if anyone can 'get what I'm saying' and say it more kindly, I'll gladly offer a 'restatement'......

KYM was in many ways like the lovable village drunk.

I'm sorry to hear about it.

I'll add that I think Royalcello was right to be concerned about how the outburst would appear to outsiders - I think we here know that KYM is pretty harmless and usually had his heart in the right place.  Although sometimes we had some disagreements and I would get annoyed with him, I never took it personally.

Like Peter, I hope he could some day make a return and keep a check on some of those impulses that he had.

If not, I wish KYM the best.

I know exactly what you mean Baron.

KYM is from my experience a good guy, but his love of drama and his argumentativeness on certain topics did not serve him well here.  He could sometimes irritate, but my irritation was always tempered by a level of amusement.  I understand why Royalcello did what he did.  That last statement from him crossed the limit.

Hopefully KYM will learn to temper his tounge (or typing fingers in this case) in the future.

Hello all, I have returned after my absence.

I would like to offer an apology to the entire forum for my unwarranted and unacceptable outburst in February. For that I am deeply and sincerely sorry. I promise it will not happen again, ever.

Welcome back indeed. It looks weird to see you with such a low number of posts though! But I'm sure that will change sooner or later.
