His Imperial and Royal Highness Archduke Karl von Hapsburg, de jure Emperor of Austria, Apostolic King of Hungary, Bohemia etc... is reportedly sick with Coronavirus.  It is the first report of a royal being infected with this new virus.

As reported by the Telegraph

One of Austria's highest profile figures infected

Austria has 157 cases of the coronavirus, with one of one of the country’s most high profile public figures infected, writes Jörg Luyken:

Karl von Habsburg, the eldest grandson of the last Habsburg emperor Charles I and current head of the former royal house, is living in isolation after being infected in Switzerland last week.

The 59-year-old told a local reporter that he felt “a bit low-spirited” after suffering flu-like symptoms that refuse to go away. He contracted the virus while attending a conference in Geneva where Italians from Milan were also present.

Von Habsburg, who does not have an official state role but has previously been active in politics, is currently living alone in his house in the Vienna area and remains in contact with family members by telephone.

A total of 157 cases have been confirmed in Austria, where the government on Monday called on all its citizens currently in neighbouring Italy to return home.

It is reported that the President of Portugal and the President of the European Parliament have both self-quarantined as they have been exposed to people with the virus, but neither is showing signs of symptoms.

Thanks for the information. I am sure we will all wish HIRH a speedy and complete recovery, as we do all victims of the virus.

As with everyone, Britain's royal family are having to adjust their behaviour in view of the virus. This Mail article explains some of the measures being taken.

The Prince of Monaco has tested positive for the virus. Happily, His Serene Highness is nevertheless enjoying apparent good health, and is continuing to perform his duties while remaining in his apartments.

According to the article on the Prince of Wales I posted elsewhere, Albert II has remained in seeming good health while continuing to isolate himself in his palace apartments and perform what duties he can from there. The most recent news I have been able to find on Archduke Karl is from 17th March, over a week ago, but he too was then showing no signs of any serious illness.
