Sorry if there has been a thread of a similar nature before, I couldn't find one. In the same vein as the thread "Faces of Monarchy"; I thought it might be a fun idea to show a few pictures of our town/city/village/location where we currently dwell

(Querry: Do they have villages in the United States?)

My Village:- Holmrook

This is a view of "Doc" Lawrence's Gas Station, Laundromat, Bus-Stop and Airport (the main runway) in Grand Ridge Florida (my home town).  The ridge line that indicates the end of the runway is the CSX railroad line.

Walton's Grocery (the other "anchor store" of Downtown Grand Ridge) has experienced some hard times lately...

I don't have many of my own pictures digitized, if I get around to doing so, I might update this thread....

OK, I'm officially envious now!

Unfortunately, I doubt I could live in such a place and have a career as an orchestral cellist even if I moved to the UK...

Haha, it is really nice here But yes, like you say there isn't much chance of an orchestral musical career here. You'll have to go to the city for that.

My village and the surrounding villages are popular for retired (dare I say rather wealthy) citizens, most of whom are from the city or at least not from this County but come here to enjoy the near crime-free, traditional English community. So when you retire Royal maybe you can join the rest of them

NOTE: That little green 'hut' type building behind the play-ground is, believe it or not, our village hall!

Dallas skyline from the bell tower of my apartment building, partially obscured by temporary scaffolding.  Below the tallest buildings, in the center of the picture just above the freeway, you can see (left to right) the new Dallas Performing Arts Center (for opera, ballet, & musicals; opening in October), the spire and roof of the Roman Catholic cathedral, and the Meyerson Symphony Center where I perform as a member of the Dallas Symphony.

I know, "Agnes" showed me.  Except for the organ key, which was destroyed in 2007 by yours truly when I tried to play the organ and it broke apart in my hand, half of the key stuck in the organ...
