Welcome to an online home for admirers of the world's oldest and best form of government, monarchy!

Monarchists of all varieties, from absolutists to medievalists to constitutionalists, are welcome here.   While polite questions from the curious or unconvinced are welcome, in general the purpose of this forum is to provide an online community for English-speaking people who share a sympathetic interest in monarchy.

Monarchies have been closely linked to religion throughout history; therefore it is expected that topics of a religious nature will come up. As long as these are handled with prudence and tact, that is fine, though religious debates should not dominate the forum.

Otherwise, common sense rules apply: while there is nothing wrong with a heated discussion, users are expected to refrain from using obscene language or making personal attacks.

Have fun!

When quoting another member's post in your post, please quote only that portion to which you are responding.  Try not to take up unnecessary thread space with needlessly long quotes of what has already been posted.

When people do not follow this rule, I reserve the right to edit posts to reduce quoting and make the threads easier to follow.  I will not edit anything new, only that which has already been posted.  However, if I cannot even figure out what is intended, I may ask you to clean it up.

I had hoped to avoid adding a rule like this as I do value freedom of discussion.  However, it needs to be clear to anyone who may be visiting this site that radical modern ideologies such as Nazism, fascism, and racialism have nothing to do with monarchism and are in fact opposed to it.  Therefore, posts promoting such ideologies, and links to sites promoting them, are not acceptable.  This prohibition includes the defense or promotion of Holocaust denial or revisionism.

Just to be clear: this rule does not mean that this forum is becoming a "politically correct" zone.  It is perfectly legitimate, for example, to take a position opposing the mass immigration of non-European peoples to Europe.    It is ideologies which falsely elevate race or the state or a particular ethnicity above all other concerns that are not welcome.

While theoretical speculation about royal genealogy and succession is fine, as well as discussion of succession disputes of the past and debate on claimants to currently vacant thrones, it is the policy of this forum that the legitimacy of the ten currently reigning European sovereigns is not to be questioned, and that they must be referred to by their correct titles.

The first post of a new thread should contain something substantial likely to generate discussion.  That could be a specific question(s), some original reflections or proposals, a link, or an article.  There are lots of appropriate ways to start a thread.  However, please do not start a thread simply by saying something along the lines of "on this thread we will talk about X" and leaving it at that, and then hoping that someone else has something to say about whatever X is, even though you apparently did not.  Threads like this serve no useful purpose and will be deleted.

Should the forum be invaded by what it is obviously spam, please do not respond, especially more than once.  This just creates more work for me when deleting junk posts, since obviously once the junk posts are gone, reactions to them have to be deleted too.  Just ignore spam and I will take care of it.

Accounts registered for more than six months without making a single post will normally be deleted.  Monarchists whose names are familiar to me are exempt from this rule, though of course I strongly encourage all registered members to post.

All messages that appear to be spam, including posts that look plausible but contain links to advertisements for products or services unrelated to monarchism, will be deleted and the account responsible deleted and banned.  Profiles that contain such links will also be deleted.  Any links in profiles or signatures should be to either a (non-commercial) personal homepage or a site clearly related to monarchism.

It really shouldn't be necessary to have a specific rule about this, but I just deleted six identical posts from unrelated threads asking for help with a research project on royal weddings. It is perfectly acceptable to start ONE new thread for something like this, but inappropriate to flood six existing threads with the same question not directly related to their topics.

From now on I will be automatically deleting all new accounts (especially those with seemingly random combinations of letters and numbers) who list their occupation as "realtor" or "real estate broker" or anything similar since they all seem to be the same kind of spam.
