I know the Queen Is pulling back on engagements and realm tours and I would so love to see HRH attend another Waitangi day and maybe open parliament so would a new yacht help with the chance of It happening?

one step closer for the Queen to make future tours of Australia , Canada and New Zealand , on well planned unstressful itineraries?

The Queen is not an HRH (Her Royal Highness).  She is an HM (Her Majesty).  The dignity of HRH is reserved for Princes and Princesses, not for the higher ranking monarch.

tried to edit it but forum said no , so what are your thoughts on the boat? personally i think if they do do it , the boat should have a Aussie chef , they should only serve Kiwi wine and the main dinning hall should have Canadian maple wood panlling [smile]

Can't imagine why you wouldn't be able to edit, but the correction is shown on the thread anyway so it doesn't matter. I of course think a new royal yacht is a very sensible idea, both for the potential trade benefits and for the dignity of the monarchy; it really is a disgrace that there should be no yacht for the sovereign of a realm with the greatest naval tradition of all, rivalled only by the US navy, and that only in the last century or so. HMY Commonwealth might be a good name, though I am not so sure about your detailed suggestions. The Canadian maple wood panelling would be fine of course, so long as (to stave off protests from tree-huggers everywhere) it was from a sustainable, managed resource.

I gave a little more thought to a possible name, starting by looking at the precedents. Of which there have been a lot, with some surprising choices; HMY Kitchen, anyone? Though I think the classification of some of these as royal yachts is a bit dubious. Anyway, nothing took my fancy. A few further ideas I came up with are HMY Duke of Edinburgh, honouring a great royal consort and the beautiful city, Royal Charles, to look forward to the next reign and back to two of the past, and Sovereign of the Seas. Anyone got other thoughts?

as for the name what about HMY Zealandia has a nice ring to it or they could just name it Britannia again like they did with HMS Ark Royal ?

I think a new Royal Yacht would be a great idea.  I like the name "Royal Charlotte" from the list of old Royal Yacht names.  Little Princess Charlotte should christen it with a baby bottle [smile]!
