Many happy returns to Prince Harry, 25 today. His main birthday present would make more difference to most people than I suspect it will to him. More on that here.

Note that most of the inheritance tax paid on the estate of the late Diana, Princess of Wales was in effect voluntary; a substantial amount of it could readily and perfectly legally have been avoided, but it was decided that this would breed endless stories about legal trickery (as opposed to sensible and prudent arrangements routinely made with large estates) and it was best to just pay.

A linked story about Prince William will not please the Baron, but I am sure that he will wish the younger Prince a happy birthday just the same.

Today is Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip's 62nd anniversary and Archduke Otto's 97th birthday.  This is a particularly significant birthday for him because it means he has reached a higher age than even his mother Empress Zita (9 May 1892 - 14 Mar 1989) did.

Congratulations to Her Majesty and His Royal Highness.  Happy Birthday for his Imperial and Royal Highness.  Significant milestones indeed.

Today is the 20th birthday of the Hereditary Prince of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. He is out in the USA at the moment and is celebrating with a private party in Chicago.

He's actually the Hereditary Prince of all Mecklenburg.

Yeah true pretty much. Although Duchess Donata acts as head of the Grand Ducal Family of Mecklenburg-Schwerin, she is pursing claims against the state for artwork and land.

But today is the silver wedding anniversary of the Duke and Duchess of Mecklenburg, and also the anniversary of some births and deaths in the Grand Ducal House.

I wish the couple every happiness, but Daniel von Sachsen's father is the son of an unequal marriage, therefore as the Royal Saxon constitution makes quite clear neither he nor his father is a Prince of Saxony.
