Not a birthday, but a birth. I see from royalcello's blog that Prince Aimone and Princess Olga of Savoy have been safely delivered of a son, Prince Umberto. Congratulations to the parents, and a long and happy life to the new Prince.

HRH Princess Eugenie of York turns 19 today.   (I never forget this particular birthday as it is also my mother's--though she's a bit older!)

According to Paul Theroff, Princess Alice of Bavaria (b 1981) will marry Prince Lukas von Auersperg (b 1981) in August.  Both of them are the children of titled fathers and commoner mothers.  Interesting that they are choosing a more traditional marital path than their fathers did.

Happy Birthday to Her Majesty!

In celebration of Her Majesty's birthday, Australia Post has issued its annual Queen's Birthday stamps. This year it features The Queen at The Trooping of The Colour Parade. If you follow the link, http://www.stamps.com.au/shop/stamps/queens-birthday-2009, it gives you all the details with some pictures.

I've already got mine (I got the entire set except the gutter strips)

O Lord our heavenly Father,
 high and mighty, King of kings, Lord of lords, the only Ruler of princes,
  who dost from thy throne behold all the dwellers upon earth;
  most heartily we beseech thee with thy favour
       to behold our most gracious Sovereign Lady, Queen Elizabeth;
  and so replenish her with the grace of thy Holy Spirit,
  that she may alway incline to thy will, and walk in thy way:
  endue her plenteously with heavenly gifts;
  grant her in health and wealth long to live;
  strengthen her that she may vanquish and overcome all her enemies;
  and finally, after this life, she may attain everlasting joy and felicity;

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

Prince Joseph Wenzel of Liechtenstein is 14 today. I hope His Serene Highness has a very happy birthday.

That was for LJ (and the Prince), this is for me. I hope Bob Dylan, 68 today, has a very happy birthday too. (I once happened to notice the day was the same, which is how I came to remember Prince Joseph Wnzel's anniversary.)

Today, May 24, is both the 190th anniversary of the birth of Queen Victoria, and the 20th birthday of our own CaesarII, loyal subject of her great-great-granddaughter and resident of that fair city which she selected as Canada's capital.  Happy Birthday!

Many thanks!

Had not Victoria Day been transfered to last monday to create a three-day weekend, my birthday would have been a holiday!
