In an article about Klemens von Metternich, this line gave me such clarity and pleasure:
 
This legitimist mythology of dynasticism, aristocratic hierarchy, martial prowess, faith and regionalism was a far superior one to the nationalist mythology of liberalism, constitutionalism, democracy, parliamentarism and "equality of nations."
 
That sums up the difference.  Take a side.

Who knew Metternich was capable of such over simplification.  Disappointed.
