Turkey under Erdogan appears to be taking the side of the Iranian regime - despicable but unsurprising.

Fingers crossed that things are moving in a rightly proper Royal direction. This could very well be their '1848' moment, if 1979 represented their '1789' moment.

https://english.alarabiya.net/en/perspective/features/2018/01/11/Iranian-regime-s-history-of-violent-crackdowns-against-dissent.html

We have known all along that any deals with the regime simply gives them the means to brutally repress the resistance movement inside the country. But ordinary Iranians are not about to give up - on the contrary, they have been galvanised and emboldened despite the lack of support from most Western nations for their cause.

I've always liked the writing of Akhilesh Pillalamarri for obvious reasons...

The comparisons with the Soviet Union and Apartheid South Africa still abound, and Trump is still the only national leader in the West to lend support to the protests:

The Islamic Republic was founded upon treachery & bloodlust; it stands on columns of institutionalized discrimination, systematic injustice, unbridled corruption & ruinous incompetence. It is diff from any form of gov we’ve had & it will soon be forced to return Iran to Iranians.
