One of the 15 wives of King Mswati III of Swaziland has apparently committed suicide.  It is being said that Queen LaMasango killed herself after being depressed over not being permitted to attend the funeral of her sister.

A sad story, for sure. But now it's the King of eSwatini, Swaziland is no more. One does sometimes wish that geographic names were not such moveable feasts, but I suppose it's fair enough to want the official name of the country to be in the language of the country, rather than a hybrid with English.

Renaming his country to the native name is unobjectionable to me.  However, as I said to Theodore on facebook, I find the lower case "e" at the front of the name to be disconcerting.  It makes the name look like it's for a database of some kind.  Why can't it be Eswatini?  Anyway, His Majesty has spoken, and it is what it is.

Well Swazi is a Bantu language where such prefixes are common.

My response is rather meh, as with Ivory Coast/Cote d'Ivoire.
