You may have noticed that the appearance of the forum has changed and now includes my website. This change while not required by WebsiteToolbox was recommended and I decided to approve it. I hope people don't mind. While not 100% sure yet I think it looks better this way. Note that the Grimaldi arms and Queen Fabiola no longer appear on my actual website so that should change soon.

This looks nice and it is handy that you no longer need to switch between the site and the forum, but whenever I click on a part of the forum (like 'Europe' or 'general') I automatically return to the top of the screen and have to scroll down again to see the various threads. Is this what you mean that should change soon?

I hope so too, as I am slightly concerned about those with lets say 'bandwith issues' viewing and/or accessing the sight in full now.

The forum itself is sort of dwarfed by the rest though. Not saying it's bad, but having both pictures at that size at once does stretch things.

The change is a pain so far as I am concerned, as though my charts in the Royal Genealogy section don't seem to be much affected the keys have all turned into a right mess, as a different measure appears to be being used. Before I go through and fix them all, which will take hours, are any more changes planned in the near future? I agree with others that the large pictures make navigation more difficult, and I think would be very disconcerting for forum visitors as they can't without scrolling down see any threads. Also, it would be good to have a direct link to your blog; at the momnet you have to click one of the links that are there then 'home' in order to get to it.

Well, the consensus seemed to be negative, so I have removed the duplication of my website.

Now back to listening to King's College Cambridge.

I might fool around with different backgrounds though. There is a "US Flag" option but I think not. [smile] How about this world map theme?

I have just checked the European Royal Genealogy section and don't see what is wrong with the keys.

I like the new format. The world map theme doesn't really add a lot though, you can hardly see it [tongue]

What sort of other themes does it have, if you don't mind me asking, royalcello?

Names are all supposed to appear on one line, but are now often occupying two, giving a higgledy-piggledy appearance. Which is also a good description of the state of the statistical summaries, plus all the underlining has disappeared so people can't see that the names are linked. The charts are also much worse than I thought, a lot of them are exceeding the measure of the page, which they didn't before, and names and relationships that are supposed to fit on one line have gone to two, again creating a mess. I'm not annoyed, it's your forum and you can change it as you please, but it is going to take days to get everything looking neat again. In the meantime the charts are functional and the links albeit not marked are there, so no one will be stopped from using the charts and keys.

Hmm. That aspect of the change was not my choice. I'm sorry, but I think that may have occurred even if I hadn't approved the addition of my website to the top of the page (which I've now removed); as far as I could tell that was the only part that was optional or could be undone.

The other background options are mostly just different colour schemes, none of which instantly appealed to me more than this. You can see the world map when you go to "New Posts" especially if there aren't a lot.

Changes in forum appearance is inevitable, but the priceless content here remains intact.

I love the blue of the background in the World Map View.  It reminds me of the beautiful blue folds of the traditional coronation robes of the Kings of France.
