Looking at this picture I realised the sheer immensity of the Emperor's medals and wished to ask if anyone would have an idea what these medals would specifically be.

No clue. When I saw the title I thought it read 'lack of medals'. Huh? He would have started getting medals when he was, like, six. And he lived a long time. Oh, rack of medals, I then saw. That made sense.

I wonder, had he lived a bit longer, would he need to get an extension going off to the side to hold more of them, you know, like a metal antena. : P

Image result for Emperor Haile Selassie medals and decorations

Emperor Haile Selassie of Ethiopia was also long lived and very well traveled, which contributed to the multitude of decorations he accumulated between September 1916 when he became Regent and Heir to the throne, through his downfall in September 1974.  Here is a display of some of them from the Jubilee Palace museum (not yet open to the public).  The top row are his Ethiopian orders and medals.  There were more, but they didn't fit in this photograph.

Ethiomonarchist- An impressive set there, I recognize a couple, UK, Indian Empire and I think a Portuguese one, but I regret to say, like the late Emperor Himself the others have also have faded into history mostly as well, more is the pity as they made a real impression upon me.

I wonder if the Emperor decided to put all of them on, just how much they would all weigh.

The Emperor was not a large man at all, I don't think he would have been able to bear the weight.

I beg your pardon for imagining the situation rather humorously.
