This weekend I had the exciting opportunity to meet HRH Dom Duarte, Duke of Braganza, head of the Royal House of Portugal, and was deeply honoured by entry as a Knight of the Portuguese Royal House. Here I am with HRH at the Army & Navy Club in Washington, DC. HRH was charming and approachable.

Well done Theodore and quite an impression the House of Braganza has made upon you with this award, do honour and cherish it accordingly.

Congratulations are in order indeed!

Was there any specific activity of yours that you got the knighthood for? For example, does it have to do anything with your work for the society for Charles I?

Congratulations, Royalcello, on meeting Dom Duarte. I wonder if there's any possibility that you could establish an ongoing dialogue with him about issues concerning  the Portuguese monarchy. It would be an interesting and worthwhile discussion.

Thanks everyone.

My friend from Facebook, Red Bank NJ mayor Pasquale Menna, who is involved in several chivalric orders, kindly offered awhile ago to sponsor me. The honour was not directly in recognition of my monarchist work, though if it weren't for my online royalist connections I wouldn't have known him.

The Duke has a delicate relationship with the Portuguese republican authorities, so while HRH also has relationships with royalist groups, restoration is probably a thorny subject.

Congratulations on being Knighted, wow, that means a lot.

Now I want to understand what is going on in Portugal, may seem off the main road, but from my connections I understand that like Albania, it is a laboratory for bigger and better things.

It's a bit late, but congratulations Theodore! I saw this on Facebook closer to the time actually and had intended to comment on it later on, but I don't think I ever did. I'm a bit jealous, to be honest-meeting the de jure King of Portugal is a great honour in and of itself, never mind being invested as a knight by him.

I already congratulated you on facebook at the time, but I'd like to do it again two weeks later.  Did anyone take pictures of you enrobed?  If so, please share?
