In Germany, the Alternatives for Germany party has won seats during three regional elections. They have especially done well in Saksen-Anhalt.

I'm happy with this result, it seems like a step in the right direction. Even if the party is a bit too anti-EU for my taste, I rather like how they have tried to use serious arguments against the current mass migration. They seem to take their work seriously, which is a big difference with Donald Trump in the US who mostly seems interested in making bad jokes about his own penis and about other people.

I wonder if there are any (closet) monarchists in the AfD.

Anecdotal evidence from a German monarchist group on Facebook in the past suggests there may well be.

Unease with Merkel's policy is not unknown in CDU ranks, and those in the CSU have been more vocal.

That couldn't have happened to a 'nicer' Chancellor, in my opinion this is but the first democratic 'shot over the bow' of the current apology for a "Reich".

The Alternatives for Germany (AFD) has won more than expected in the national election in Germany: http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/858209/German-election-exit-polls-Angela-Merkel-wins-AfD-Bundestag

Overall I'm still happy with their rise: there needs to be least one party in Germany that opposes large scale immigration from outside Europe. I just wish it had happened under the party's previous leadership, which took the same stance on that topic while being less revisionist towards World War II.
