In a rather tasteless advertising effort, Burger King has managed to alienate the King of the Belgians.

I mean I guess this is some more or less harmless fun, but I can see why it would annoy some people.

I'm not sure I completely understood it, but if they saying that the Burger King is some kind of competitor for rule in Belgian then that seems pretty disrespectful to me, and so does using the King's image for advertising.

Well of course, any consumer products with a royal connection would presumably require consent of the royals concerned. In this case they never bothered.

Simply rude and unnecessary. I hope Burger King fails miserably in Belgium.

Tasteless, and uncalled for. I understand the sense of humor behind it, but this is pure lack of reverence. Even republicans who are opposed to a monarch should remember to give the monarch respect. Suggesting that a fast food chain should replace royalty, even as a joke, is blatantly disrespectful.

I wouldn't give a cent of my money to Burger King and where I live I can buy much better burgers anyway.

Agreed, I have eaten there before, however after learning about this advertisement, I (as of the time this was typed) have no plans to eat there again any time in the near future.
