http://www.religionnewsblog.com/36653/shinchonji https://www.premierchristianity.com/Blog/The-Korean-cult-infiltrating-UK-churches-is-dangerous-I-ve-seen-it-myself You already know of the Unification Church ("Moonies"), whose political activities in the Cold War resulted in them gaining a degree of mainstream legitimacy. Then there is the World Mission Society Church of God, which won the Queen's Award for Voluntary Service . Now there is Shincheonji ("New Heaven and Earth"), whose appearance in the UK has caused sufficient alarm to the Church of England. Recently, Asian religious movements - those in South Korea, Japan, Taiwan and the Philippines - appear to be targeting Britain as a possible market for recruitment. It could be that they see a spiritual vacuum in British society that they may try to exploit and fill. As for the Church of England, even if it is right to be alarmed, it needs to examine itself first rather than worry about others.

This is what happens when a faith falls fast asleep at the wheel for far too long, and fails in their mission to keep honest the civic vacuum that arises from those who lack faith taking prominence in the flow of society.

Many East Asian "new religions" are in fact based on Chinese, Japanese and Korean traditions, with Falun Gong being a notable example. But then you have Christian or pseudo-Christian traditions, like Iglesia Ni Cristo in the Philippines and the Church of Almighty God or Eastern Lightning in China. While nationalism is a strong element of many of these religions, especially in Japan, they are also inclusive where membership is concerned.
