I am sorry to hear that but thank you for telling us.  What a long life!  If only she were to be buried as the Empress she ought to have been.

In all likelyhood Her Imperial Highness will be buried as a Grand Duchess next to her late husband in the Cathedral of St. Peter & Paul.  Grand Duke Vladimir was the first Romanov to receive these dignities in post-revolutionary Russia.

My sincere condolences to the Romanov and Bagration-Mukhrani families.

Strange, her birthday is referenced as being in September  according to others.

St. Petersburg mourns for Grand Duchess Leonida Romanova

Grand Duchess Leonida Romanova died, aged 95, in Spain at the end of May.

Her body arrived back in Russia earlier on Wednesday.

The second link provided by Seth shows very moving Russian Television footage of Grand Duchess Maria Vladimirovna placing flowers on her mother's casket, and Grand Duke George kissing his grandmother's face.  The dignity of the Romanovs is truly impressive.  The Peter & Paul Cathedral is quite magnificent.  It is to be remembered that the funeral for Grand Duke Vladimir took place in St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg itself, and only the internment was held at the Peter & Paul Cathedral.  The same was done for the Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna more recently.  I wonder who the other people around the Grand Duchess Maria are, and if any of the Bagration-Mukhranis were in attendance given the rather fridgid relations between Russia and Georgia these days.
